What it does
Wowza Streaming Engine is server software for live and on-demand video delivery with configurable protocols and integrations.
Streaming Engine is relevant when the deployment itself needs to remain under the organisation's control. Its official guide describes on-premises, private-cloud and public-cloud installations, with instances, clusters and edge servers available as the audience grows. The application can connect encoders, storage, players and existing systems through its APIs.
Choose the licence and topology together. The published plans distinguish a short-term one-month key from recurring monthly and enterprise arrangements, and list concurrent transcoded-channel allowances. DRM and other protection options also need matching to the actual playback clients; buying a server licence does not settle the whole delivery design.
Strengths
- Deployment and integration options support control over the delivery infrastructure.
Watch out for
- Licence terms and transcoded-channel allowances must fit the deployment.
