What it does

Popup Maker creates WordPress popups and includes a built-in subscription form. Cookie settings determine which interaction stops later displays and how long that lasts. The free core plugin collects subscribers; annual Pro and Pro+ licences add targeting, reporting and commerce tools.

Install Popup Maker from Plugins → Add Plugin while logged into WordPress. In the popup editor, use the Shortcodes dropdown to insert Subscription Form and save its settings. The generated pum_sub_form shortcode can be edited visually or in the text editor. View collected contacts at Popup Maker → Subscribers. Exporting that native list uses the database table, so arrange database access if regular exports are part of your process.

Under Popup Settings → Triggers, choose the event that creates a suppression cookie. Closing the popup, opening it, completing the built-in subscription form and submitting an already-subscribed address have different events. Match the cookie to the interaction you want remembered. Set Cookie Time explicitly and check Sitewide Cookie, which starts enabled. Browser sessions can outlast a single visit, making a defined duration more predictable than a session cookie.

Core and paid options

Option Main scope
Free core Unlimited popups and the built-in subscriber form
Pro Advanced targeting, analytics and FluentCRM integration
Pro+ Pro tools plus purchase attribution and deeper commerce/course connections

Paid licences renew annually, with a first-year introductory offer. Choose the required site allowance when buying. If you stop renewing, installed extensions remain usable, but updates and support end.

Strengths

  • The built-in form collects subscribers without another form plugin.
  • Repeat-display cookies can distinguish viewing, closing and subscription outcomes.

Watch out for

  • Native subscriber-list exports require a database administration tool.
  • An expired paid licence loses updates and support.

Best for

  • WordPress owners collecting subscribers and controlling repeat popup displays
