What it does
x360ce maps buttons and axes from supported controllers, joysticks, wheels and pedals to an Xbox 360-style controller on Windows.
Choose the version before following the setup guide. Version 4 creates a virtual gamepad through the ViGEmBus driver and must stay running during play. Version 3 manages XInput DLL files and can close once configured, but some games no longer permit that DLL route.
Map the device’s buttons and axes, then check that the game is using XInput controls. This is useful when a game expects that controller interface and your existing device uses DirectInput. Compatibility still needs checking for the game and hardware you intend to use.
Strengths
- Maps buttons and axes from several controller types
- Separate version-specific setup instructions
Watch out for
- Version 4 needs a virtual driver and must remain running during play
Best for
- Using an existing joystick, wheel or gamepad with supported Windows games
