What it does
Xero combines invoices, bills, bank reconciliation and accounting reports for small businesses. You can share the books with an accountant and connect business apps. Plans, payroll and tax features vary by country; the US edition has three monthly subscriptions and an introductory free-month option.
Following a payment through the books
Xero's contact view brings together a customer's or supplier's invoices and payments. That history helps when a customer asks which invoice a payment settled. Bank reconciliation matches bank entries with bookkeeping records, while reports show the resulting balances.
For stock-based work, inventory tracks quantities and adds items to invoices or orders. Service businesses can use project time and cost tracking on the appropriate plan.
US plans and their limits
These are standard monthly prices in USD, before tax and temporary discounts.
| Plan | Monthly price | Main distinction |
|---|---|---|
| Early | $27 | 20 invoices and five bills; bank reconciliation |
| Growing | $59 | More invoicing and bill entry, with automatic reconciliation |
| Established | $97 | Multiple currencies, project costs and employee expense claims |
The free introductory month is not a lasting free plan. Payroll and Inventory Plus are optional additions. Online payment charges can apply separately.
Start on Xero's country-specific pricing page, choose the relevant plan and create your organization. US customers can use the included onboarding sessions to connect banks and prepare the dashboard.
