What it does

XYZ Type offers retail typefaces, custom fonts and lettering. Its trial system distinguishes limited free desktop files from paid trials with full characters and desktop and web formats.

XYZ Type gives a team two ways to evaluate a family. The free trial covers one individual and supplies desktop OpenType files with limited characters and features. Paid trials provide the full characters and features, desktop files and WOFF2 webfonts, with evaluation rights for the whole company. The payment can be applied to a later licence upgrade.

On the Trials page, select the free or paid option for the families you need and complete the licensee details. A paid trial is useful when a prototype depends on characters missing from the free version or needs a real webfont. Neither route replaces production licensing. The permanent desktop licence covers logos and allows use in Figma or Canva when access stays within the licensed user count; web and app embedding need the corresponding licence.

Strengths

  • Offers limited free and full paid evaluation routes.
  • Paid trials include WOFF2 files and full features.

Watch out for

  • Free trials cover one person and have limited characters and features.
  • Production web and app embedding need their own licences.

Best for

  • Teams evaluating type in a web prototype.
  • Identity projects comparing retail type and custom lettering.
