YaCy is free search-server software for independent web indexes, organization portals and a decentralized peer-to-peer network. The project documents operation without personalized data collection or phone-home telemetry.
YaCy lets you run an independent index and crawler for a selected part of the web or join the peer-to-peer network sharing index contributions. A private organization portal and a shared public index therefore use different operating modes.
The project says the software does not collect personalized data or phone home. The operator still chooses what enters the index and who may administer the server. Its repository documents default administrator credentials and says to change them before enabling remote administration.
