What it does

YAPEAL Direct offers Swiss digital accounts through mobile and browser interfaces. Adults can adjust card limits, temporarily block cards and follow transaction notifications. Its family service adds a child’s account with allowance payments and parental spending controls.

Match the plan to bills and family use

Personal plan Monthly price
Loyalty Free
Private CHF 4.90
Private + CHF 8.90

QR-bill scanning, eBill and family access start with Private. All plans include transfers between YAPEAL users. Card controls in the app include limits, temporary blocking and PIN viewing; account activity is also available through the web app.

A child’s account with visible limits

Yapini is available from age seven and requires a parent or guardian with a YAPEAL account. Guardians see the balance in their own app, send money immediately or schedule pocket money. They can set a spending limit. The account cannot go overdrawn, and its card blocks payments to gambling and other adult websites.

The child needs a smartphone or tablet and an email address. A physical Visa debit card and an immediately available virtual card are included.

Adult eligibility

Ordinary private accounts are for adults aged at least 18 who are the sole owners of the funds. The standard route requires Swiss residence and tax liability only in Switzerland; YAPEAL excludes US persons. Digital opening includes identity and tax-residence checks. Private accounts cannot be used for business.

YAPEAL’s terms state that account balances do not have bank deposit protection. The company operates a fintech account service, with separate business and embedded-finance offerings.

Strengths

  • Card limits and temporary blocking are controlled in the app
  • Parents can schedule allowances and set child spending limits
  • A browser interface accompanies the mobile app

Watch out for

  • QR bills, eBill and family access require a paid adult plan
  • Standard private accounts require Swiss residence and exclusively Swiss tax liability
  • YAPEAL states that account balances have no bank deposit protection

Best for

  • Eligible Swiss adults combining digital payments with family oversight
  • Parents introducing children aged seven or older to card spending
