What it does

ZenLedger imports crypto histories for portfolio review and tax-report preparation, with separate professional and filing services. An account can import and aggregate transactions free; annual paid plans provide tax reports, starting at $49 for up to 100 transactions.

Keeping a ZenLedger history current requires a deliberate refresh. In Wallets > Import History, open the menu beside an exchange connection or wallet and select Resync. For exchanges, the API connection supplies records to the software; it does not update all activity automatically after the first import.

Files need a different approach. Standard exchange CSV imports can recognize previously imported records, but a custom CSV should contain only new transactions or it can create duplicates. Replacing an old connection also removes manual changes attached to that import, so preserve the work you need before replacing it.

After updating the calculations, open Taxes and find Unified Accounting in the Utilities section. This detailed workbook combines dates, assets, amounts, exchanges, transfers and gains. Use Rerun GUA after changes or Download Excelsheet for a spreadsheet copy. Its Buy, Sell, Trade and Self-Transfer tabs help trace how an event reached the totals.

Silver is $49 per year for 100 transactions, Gold $199 for 5,000 and Platinum $399 for 15,000. Purchased reports remain available for that tax year, including later revisions. Paid accounts enroll in annual renewal; the gear menu’s Billing page has Cancel Subscription for stopping future charges while retaining purchased years.

Professional preparation and the US state-and-federal filing route are separate offers, so check their scope if you need someone to complete the return.

Strengths

  • Unified Accounting separates purchases, disposals and self-transfers
  • A tax professional can be invited without an additional access charge
  • A purchased year’s report can be recalculated after later corrections

Watch out for

  • Connected sources need resynchronization to bring in later activity
  • Custom CSV uploads can duplicate records already entered

Best for

  • Users tracing reported totals back through imported crypto transactions
  • People maintaining reports that may need corrections after the initial purchase
