What it does
Zenmoney combines account records, customizable categories and budget planning on iOS and Android. Its free Basic Zen plan supports manual budgeting; paid Full Zen adds bank connections and deeper analysis of income, expenses and spending trends.
Zenmoney’s planning view builds on transaction history. Regular payments can appear in the budget with due notifications, while category estimates use past spending. A changed bill or a one-time purchase deserves a review before its historical amount becomes part of the next month’s plan.
Start by adding the accounts you actually use and setting their opening balances. Cash, cards, deposits and loans have separate account records. Add expected income and recurring bills with their next date and repetition interval. That gives the spending calendar a baseline before you interpret its forecasts.
Custom categories and comparisons across periods help explain why a total changed. With Full Zen, supported bank connections bring in transactions; the company describes European connections through GoCardless as read-only. This is account information access, so budgeting here does not move the money between your bank accounts.
Basic Zen is free for manual budgeting. Full Zen is available monthly, yearly or as a lifetime purchase. The US iPhone store lists a monthly subscription at US$3.49 and an annual subscription at US$19.99. Prices differ by country.
When a scheduled payment has already happened on a different date, hide the outstanding planned entry so it is treated as completed. If the payment will not happen at all, delete the planned entry instead. That distinction helps prevent an old reminder from remaining in the budget.
