What it does
Zerene Stacker is focus-stacking software designed for macro subjects, with close-up and landscape applications as well.
Add JPEG/TIFF focus frames, run Align & Stack All and save the output. PMax and DMap have different detail, noise and colour tradeoffs; DMap includes a contrast threshold. Commit retouching before saving. Save a project when further editing matters, and keep the original sources because projects link to them rather than copying them. Purchases are one-time, with a 30-day full trial. Business, funded work and images for sale require Professional; Student rights end with eligibility.
Strengths
- Focus stacking focused on macro subjects
Watch out for
- Saved projects link to original input images, so the project folder alone is not a complete source archive.
Best for
- Combining macro focus sequences
