What it does

Line Awesome is a free Icons8 collection in regular, solid and brand styles. It offers webfonts, individual SVG files and JavaScript components, including a compatibility stylesheet for Font Awesome 5.

On the catalogue page, choose a Copy as format such as Class, HTML, React or SVG, then select an icon. For a code project, install line-awesome. The font route imports its CSS file and uses classes such as las la-star; the SVG route imports an icon such as lasStar and passes it to LaIcon for React or Vue.

Individual SVG imports keep unused icons out of the bundle. LaIcon takes size and title properties; without a title it treats the icon as decorative and hides it from screen readers. An icon-only button still needs an accessible label on the control.

For an existing Font Awesome 5 interface, the compatibility stylesheet preserves the old classes while substituting Line Awesome artwork. It targets the 5.11.2 naming scheme. When upgrading to Line Awesome 2, keep importing CSS by its explicit path: a bare JavaScript package import now loads icon exports, not styles.

Design applications can use the separate SVG files or the three TTF fonts, one for each style. The collection offers MIT as a licence choice; the compatibility stylesheet retains its own Font Awesome licence header.

Strengths

  • Supports single-icon SVG imports as well as class-based fonts.
  • The catalogue copies several code and artwork formats.

Watch out for

  • The compatibility stylesheet follows Font Awesome 5.11.2 names.
  • A bare JavaScript import does not load the webfont CSS.

Best for

  • Web projects changing Font Awesome 5 icons to line artwork.
  • React and Vue interfaces importing selected SVG symbols.
